It’s been weeks since Rebound Orthopedics & Neurosurgery’s external computer systems went down, and the company has yet to confirm whether a cyberattack is to blame. Meanwhile, one patient told The Columbian she’s been unable to reach the company, which has delayed her short-term disability checks.
As of Tuesday afternoon, patient and scheduling portals were still unavailable.
The company first announced that systems were down Feb. 5 via its website. The Columbian reached out to the company Tuesday for an update but reached an automated message the first two times. On the third call, a representative from Rebound hung up.
As of Tuesday, Rebound’s website stated, “Our investigation into the disruption to certain computer systems remains ongoing, though we have made significant progress in restoring operations since Monday (Feb. 5). We assure you that the privacy and security of our patients’ information is of utmost importance to us, and determining whether there was any impact to patient data is a top priority. Please rest assured that we are taking all necessary steps to identify the scope of the disruption and will notify any patients whose information may be impacted by this event.”
The Rebound patient, who did not want to be named due to health privacy reasons, said Tuesday she has been unable to reach the company for weeks. The patient said she has been trying to get Rebound to send updated medical records to her short-term disability company since Jan. 20. The short-term disability company needs the medical records so she can continue receiving a paycheck while she recovers from a surgery performed by a Rebound surgeon.
